What can I do about someone else's drinking?

If you suspect that alcohol is having a negative effect on the life of a friend or member of your family, the first thing you should do is learn about alcohol problems and alcoholism. A good place to start is www.AlcoholScreening.org, which provides a good overview and even offers a test to give individuals personalized feedback about their drinking. Simply by taking the test yourself and mentioning it to the person you're concerned about may be a helpful first step.
